This freehand machine embroidery tutorial will cover:
How to set up your machine
The feed dog – what it does and how to disengage it
How best to use an embroidery plate if the feed dog can’t be lowered
Recommended embroidery foot
Needle size and type
Stitch length
Tension
Recommended thread for different projects
The equipment you will need
How to sew freehand
What speed to set your machine at (if applicable to your machine)
How to get lovely fluid lines and a regular stitch length
How best to stitch larger, solid areas of colour with some tips to add different tone to your work
Sarah will guide you via live demonstrations on her machine and will discuss tips for sewing freehand onto fabric AND sewing onto card blanks by appliquéing small pieces of fabric using freehand embroidery. She will also recommend the weight of card to sew onto
Common problems and how to overcome them

Time will be dedicated at the end of the tutorial to answer any questions you may have
This tutorial will be an opportunity for you to sit back and watch – you don’t need to follow along with your machine during the live tutorial.
After the session you’ll be emailed a recording of the tutorial which you’ll be able to play back at your convenience enabling you watch and sew along at your own pace. The recording will be available for you to watch for 30 days.
