Description

Set within a wooden cabin in Sarah’s garden overlooking open fields you’ll experience a day full of creativity as you step into the world of freehand machine embroidery. You’ll stitch your own unique collection of notecards including a Christmas collection in a cosy studio decorated with fairy lights.

The notecards will be made using a freehand embroidered appliqué technique, stitching tiny pieces of fabric directly onto a card blank. This is a wonderful way of using up those scraps of fabric, and an in expensive way of making special cards for all sorts of occasions – you’ll possibly never buy a greetings card again!

The workshop will commence with a detailed demonstration followed by assistance with setting up your machines. Throughout the day Sarah will provide continuous guidance and share helpful tips and troubleshooting advice she has gained from her 34 years of practising this technique.

There will be a range of designs available to you for inspiration as well as a large choice of fabrics for you to freely use. Templates can be provided, or Sarah can cut your fabric shapes for you so there is no need to worry if you don’t feel confident in creating a design yourself.

Please bring your own sewing machine and make sure that you are able to lower the feed dog – this enables you to sew freehand. If you do require a machine there is a machine available to loan – please ask for this when you book. Thread, fabric, card blanks and envelopes will all be provided, simply bring along an embroidery foot and load up your bobbins with white thread!

All Sarah’s workshops are fun and relaxed and shared with what is always a lovely group of like minded people. Quite often ideas, projects and new techniques are shared so that everyone, including Sarah, feels like they’ve had a very full and enjoyable creative session!

Refreshments will be served throughout, however please bring a packed lunch.

The studio is situated in Easons Green, East Sussex, TN22. Full address and directions will be sent to you once you’ve made your booking. If you have further to travel and would like to stay overnight Sarah is happy to recommend local accommodation for you.
